Aspen Medical appointed to deliver standby emergency nursing home teams to cover COVID-19 staff shortfalls

Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures, which is why a supplementary nursing home workforce has been placed on standby in every Australian state and territory, during COVID-19.

The emergency aged care staff – all of whom are nurses and medical professionals – are ready to be deployed in homes throughout the country, as and when they may be hit by the virus.

The Government has contracted Aspen Medical to provide rapid-response advice over the phone, initially, then send workers to the affected home for a sixteen-day period.

“There’s every chance these extraordinary measures won’t be required in full, but it’s vital we are ready,” Aged Care Minister, Senator Richard Colbeck, told the Sunday Telegraph.

Aspen Medical was also engaged to by the Government to work on the Ruby Princess while it was anchored off Sydney in quarantine.
