Assisted Living / Private Aged Care pioneer Phil Usher to create long-term NDIS living

1 min read

Aligning with the NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Scheme, Mr Usher has allocated 18 new High Physical Support apartments (pictured) across two floors of dedicated space within Mr Usher’s new $81 million Odyssey Private Aged Care independent living community at Robina.

The apartments will be operated by LifeBright, which Mr Usher also owns.

He said the new apartments will address a “serious need”, considering less than 10 per cent of the current QLD accommodation market fits the needs of disabled people.

“Most people who need this community are quite young, so we see it as an important project in helping them get their lives on track” he said.

The new apartments will be fitted with expandable smart wiring capabilities, voice activation, tablets or other input devices to suit each individual resident’s needs, plus height adjustable kitchen benches, fully accessible bathrooms and laundry benches and sinks, hob-less showers, and wide doorways and hallways to provide suitable circulation space.

Uniting Communities is also offering specialist disability accommodation in its U City development in the heart of Adelaide CBD.
