Aveo fast-tracks second stage after selling out first stage of $220M Newcastle village development

1 min read

The village operator has broken ground on the $23 million second stage of 45 two-bedroom independent living units at Shortland Waters, 11km from the Newcastle CBD, after the $25 million first stage of 50 homes – priced from $379,000 – was snapped up.

Once complete in mid-2019, the six-year project will feature 300 ILU’s and high aged care beds.

Aveo has also opened the site’s new $2.5 million Shortland Waters Golf Clubhouse this month. The restaurant services at the Clubhouse will be run by Select Dining by Aveo – its industry-first dining initiative designed to raise nutritional standards at its 91 villages across Australia.

Proving how seriously the operator takes its dining program, Aveo chef Christian Stone of The Clayfield’s Carriage House Restaurant recently became the first chef to represent the village sector in Food Services Australia’s ‘Chef of the Year’ where he ranked in the top 32 out of a field of 180 chefs from restaurants including Peppers, Shamrock Hotel and Hugo’s.

Aveo says its vision is to be Australia’s leading and most innovative seniors living provider through its key corporate values – ‘Kindness, Care and Respect’ – a promise they seem determined to deliver on.
