Blacktown Workers Sports Club has plans for seniors housing and aged care development rejected

1 min read

As we reported here in September 2016, the western Sydney-based Club announced plans to develop the village, which would accommodate 800 self-contained dwellings and a 160-bed aged care home.

Now, over two years later, the Sydney Central City Planning Panel has knocked back the club’s plans, ruling that the development was “not compatible with the surrounding land uses and environment” as the site was zoned for ‘private recreation’ and therefore not suitable for urban development.

Blacktown Workers Club group president Kay Kelly said the organisation is now reviewing its options for ways to revisit the project and ensure its completion.
