Busting aged care “media myths”: ACSA launches new social media ‘untruths’ series

1 min read

Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA) has started “debunking” some of the “many untruths” about aged care currently in the media.

“As recently as last week, the Leader of the Opposition and his Deputy were declaring aged care as a sector in “crisis”, feeding off the populist but inaccurate Today Show coverage of last week,” CEO Pat Sparrow said.

Already they have addressed the recent stories on the Today Show; Queensland aged care homes “dumping” residents at hospitals; and the aged care industry raising accommodation bonds by 50% up to $750K.

ACSA is asking providers who see any inaccurate or misleading coverage they would like attention drawn to be sent to ACSA’s Media Manager for inclusion on their website and Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter channels.
