Aura Holdings’ Somerset Indooroopilly scores top architecture award as $3.2M unit sets record

1 min read

Aura Holdings’ Somerset Indooroopilly has won a prestigious Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Award, as the retirement village continues to attract strong local demand – culminating in a record apartment sale last week.

Designed by COX Architecture, the village’s Stage Two O’Connell buildings – named in honour of June O'Connell – opened in October last year and feature 88 luxury apartments. Located 7.8km southwest of Brisbane’s CBD and integrated with the Indooroopilly Golf Club, the project was one of just nine across Queensland to receive a state award on 1 July.

"Integrated with the Indooroopilly Golf Club, the project supports dignified ageing by prioritising accessibility, sustainability and community connection," said the Institute.

"The judges hailed the project as setting a new standard for independent living."

Stage One of Somerset Indooroopilly has long been sold out while Stage Two is now 80% sold.

"The development continues to be received very well from buyers, most notably locals who want to stay within the area. We  just sold our most expensive unit to date last week at $3.2 million," Aura Holdings CEO Sean Graham said.
