DCM Institute, which currently has more than 500 Village Managers enrolled in its professional development program, is seeking a third successive National Village Manager of the Year award at the Property Council’s National Retirement Living Awards on Thursday.

Steven Daly (pictured above), Village Manager at Perth, WA-based Arcadia Group, was named Best Village Manager of the Year at the National Retirement Living Summit in June last year.

“I love the challenge of retirement living as the issues are so diverse from maintenance issues, to refurbishing and selling properties to relationship breakdowns within the village,” he said.

Steven spoke at DCM institute’s Village Manager Professional Development Day in Perth last month.

Nikki Dhawan (pictured), then employed managing Bethanie Warwick and Bethanie Joondanna retirement villages, which are 20km north-northwest and 7km northwest of the Perth CBD in WA, respectively, received the accolade in 2021. Nikki has since joined Meath Care in Kingsley, Perth, as Manager, Retirement Living.

On Thursday, the following Village Managers will vie for the title of Retirement Living Council’s National Village Manager of the Year:

  • DCM Institute participant Lee Ann Alejo, South Australia’s Village Manager of the Year and Village Manager at RetireAustralia’s Spring Grove and Wisteria Grove in Adelaide;
  • DCM Institute participant Justine Regan. Queensland’s Village Manager of the Year and Village Manager at Aveo Group’s Robertson Park Retirement Village, in Robertson, an outer southern suburb of Brisbane;
  • Karri Ashford, Western Australia’s Village Manager of the Year and Village Manager at Keyton’s Woodstock West in Bunbury,
  • Jo-Anne Quinn, NSW’s Village Manager of the Year, and Village Manager of Aveo Group’s The Manors of Mosman Retirement Village, 8km northeast of Sydney’s CBD, and
  • Sherman Brown, Victoria’s Village Manager of the Year and Village Manager at Keyton’s Burwood Terrace in Burwood East, 17km east of Melbourne’s CBD.

Nearly 600 registrations have been made for the Property Council’s Retirement Living Council Summit on Qld’s Gold Coast, with an expected record number to attend.

The previous record audience of 507 was recorded in 2017.

The annual National Retirement Living Awards will see 10 awards presented, including the inaugural Blueforce People’s Choice Award, while a new national honorary RLC Life Member will be inducted.
