Consultation on retirement village law reform in WA enters third phase

1 min read

A public register to help prospective residents identify if a village operates under the Retirement Village Act (RVA) is among the suggestions put forward in the third phase of consultation on proposed changes to retirement village law in Western Australia.

The third consultation paper (CRIS 3) seeks to clarify instances where the Retirement Villages Act 1992 (WA) applies.

The first two consultation papers, both released in 2019, focused on improving the understanding of retirement village products and operator obligations.

There will be two more consultation papers released this year, which will look at:

  • village development, sales and marketing;
  • village re-development, partial memorial removals, and termination of a scheme;
  • strata titled retirement villages;
  • co-location of aged care; and
  • dispute resolution and enforcement.

You can have your say about the reform here.
