COVID-19: confirmed cases in aged care edge up slightly on Victorian scares

1 min read

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Australia’s aged care homes has climbed by three this week on the back of several residents testing positive at homes across Victoria.

Take a look at the latest data from the Department of Health above.

As you can see, the number of cases in residential care has increased to 67 from 64 last week.

While 25 residents are still recorded as recovered, there are still 15 active cases – 14 in NSW and four in Victoria.

As we reported here, three of those cases have developed in the past week – a sign that the danger has not passed for providers.

In home care, the number of cases is still at 31 for the second week in a row – and in good news, just one of those cases in Tasmania is still active. 27 people have now recovered while three have passed away.

The question is now: with restrictions being loosened across the States and Territories, will there be more cases of community transmission – increasing the risk to those in residential care and home care?
