The proposed community will have 286 manufactured homes built over two stages (84 built in Stage A and 202 in Stage B) with a community centre for residents (expanded in Stage B), swimming pool, lawn bowl greens, pickleball courts and walking tracks.
The land lease estate project, estimated to cost almost $30 million, by the Rutherford-based development business is 200 metres east of Maitland Airport, 116km north of Sydney. It a certified aerodrome since 2006, which is operated by the Royal Newcastle Aero Club.
The proposal, which was put on public exhibition on 6 February 2024, mentions the economic benefit to the local and regional economies.
“With construction to the estate expected to take approximately 5.5 years to complete, benefits will be sustained in the locality for an extended period,” a planner stated.
“The project would also contribute to addressing the ageing population, which is a major developing demographic trend in the LGA (Local Government Area) and the Hunter Region, as in NSW generally.”
