A NSW Police raid on a strata title retirement village in Dural, 36km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, has uncovered an alleged drug ring being run by one of its residents.

Gary Dennis Halford, 62, had allegedly been supplying prohibited drugs including cannabis, ice and LSD from his unit at the Mountainview Retreat Retirement Village.

NSW police will allege their investigation into drug supply in and around the Dural area began in June after residents at the complex raised concerns about Halford’s behaviour and visitors.

Police officers arrested Halford about 12.45pm last Thursday after stopping his Ford Falcon car in Baulkham Hills, NSW Police said in a statement.

Police allege that in a search of his car they found cannabis, methylamphetamine (ice) and a mobile phone.

While Halford was taken to Castle Hill Police Station, detectives and the dog squad police executed a search warrant at his retirement village unit. Inside his unit they allegedly found 12 grams of cannabis, six LSD tabs, a baton and electronic devices.

Halford was charged by police with six counts of possessing a prohibited drug, supplying a prohibited drug and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit. He was also charged with failing to comply with the COVID-19 public health orders.

Halford is understood to have been living alone in the village. Homes cost from $399,000 for a two-bedroom apartment to $459,000 for a two-bedroom unit with garage.
