Elderly home assault victim raised alarm with medical alert device

1 min read

A medical alert device has been credited with potentially saving the life of a 92-year-old woman who was attacked during a home invasion in Sydney’s inner west.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the intruder entered the woman’s Concord home after 2am, assaulting her before eventually fleeing the scene.

The woman had reportedly used her medical alert device to raise the alarm, after which she was promptly taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Acting Inspector Aaron Power from Burwood Local Area Command said police would attempt to have a follow-up conversation with the woman later.

“I believe that people of this age have a right to enjoy their twilight years in peace,” he said.

The woman is reportedly in a serious yet stable condition.
