Government to invest $5 million for Australian pain recognition technology trial in residential aged care

1 min read

The Government has granted the funding to the Australian-invented technology PainChek® – the world’s first smart phone pain assessment and monitoring device that automatically detects pain via artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology.

The app is specifically designed to reduce pain experienced by older Australians living with dementia who may struggle to verbally communicate their pain levels.

The funding will allow for a one-year universal PainChek access license for the more than 1,000 residential aged care providers across Australia – and their 100,000 residents living with dementia.
