Home care providers withdrawing from offering services under the NDIS in WA

1 min read

Western Australia was the last state to transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) on 1 July 2018, but while the full rollout is not due to be completed until 2020, some home care providers are already opting out including Silver Chain, one of the country’s largest in-home health and aged care providers.

The Not For Profit has confirmed of its 15,000 clients across Australia, around 85 of its West Australian clients have been transitioned by the Government to receive funding for their services from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

In a statement, they told us:

“Silver Chain Group has a proud history of providing home care services to our clients for more than 110 years and we have no intentions of discontinuing these services.”

“Silver Chain Group is not a specialist provider of NDIS services. Over time, we will transition NDIS-funded clients to specialist NDIS service providers.”

“We are working with NDIS Local Coordinators to identify specialist care providers to continue delivery of these services.”

“Silver Chain will continue to provide full services to all of our NDIS-funded clients until the transition to an appropriate alternative provider has been completed.”
