Ingenia looks to outside talent with new executive appointments

1 min read

The land lease operator has gone to the commercial property and hospitality industries in search of new blood for its latest senior appointments.

Managing Director and CEO Simon Owen tells us that Ingenia created the two new senior positions after making the decision to split their operational platform into two businesses: ‘Residential’ covering lifestyle and rental communities and ‘Tourism’ covering holiday parks and food and beverage outlets.

Heading up the new Residential division, Justin Blumfield (pictured above left) will be joining the operator as the General Manager of Residential Communities on 22 March with responsibility for Lifestyle, Gardens and Rental Communities.

Currently the Director, Shopping Centre Management with Vicinity Centres, Justin has been managing its portfolio of 56 retail complexes worth over $11 billion – including Australia’s largest shopping centre, Chadstone in Melbourne.

Prior to Vicinity, Justin worked in a variety of senior roles at the GPT Group, another of Australia’s largest property companies, managing its portfolio of 12 shopping centres.

Before entering the property sector, Justin played AFL for the Essendon Bombers and was part of the team that won the 2000 premiership. He will be relocating from Melbourne to Brisbane with his family to take on the role.

Ingenia has also appointed Matthew Young (pictured above right) as General Manager Tourism starting from 1 March to take on responsibility for their Holidays Parks and Food & Beverage operations including its larger ‘mixed use’ communities such as White Albatross and Conjola.

Matthew is presently Vice President Operations with Accor Hotels – one of the world’s largest hotel groups with Australian brands including Sofitel, Mercure, Pullman, Mantra, Sebel and Novotel – where he is in charge of all their Queensland and Northern Territory hotels.

Previously, Matthew held senior leadership roles with InterContinental Hotels Group.

Both executives will report directly to the CEO, and bring Ingenia’s leadership team to a total of 11 executives.

We understand that Ingenia is also on the hunt for a General Manager Marketing but a candidate has yet to be appointed.
