Ingenia scores Valerie Lyons as new director

1 min read

Listed land lease community, rental village and retirement village operator Ingenia Communities has attracted highly respected village and care executive Valerie Lyons to join the board as an independent non-executive director.

Ingenia’s Chairman, Jim Hazel, has a knack of attracting high calibre directors. Valerie is arguably the most experienced CEO in the retirement village and aged care space, having held that position for 18 years across three significant organisations – Southern Cross Care VIC, Villa Maria and Uniting AgeWell.

She is currently a non-executive director of industry superfund HESTA and registered disability and aged care provider Independence Australia Group. Valerie also serves as a non-executive member of the Audit & Risk Board committee for the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA), a government agency with responsibility for all national digital health services and systems.

Valerie tells us Ingenia matches her lifetime purpose of creating ‘community’, with its range of affordable housing options, particularly land lease communities and rental villages, which provide greater options for older retirees.

She joins Ingenia in the wake of Norah Barlow’s resignation as a non-Executive Director when she was seconded as CEO of Estia. Norah has been recognised as New Zealand’s leading businesswoman.

Valerie’s appointment is effective, 1st March.
