Kiama Council plans $30-$40 million aged care centre of excellence funded by aged care bonds

1 min read

Already a substantial retirement village and aged care operator, Kiama Council 100 km south of Sydney, is planning to redevelop the Kiama Hospital site and expand its Blue Haven Aged Care facility, which currently has 82 beds with plans to expand to 134 beds.

The idea is to engage with University of Wollongong and implement the benefits of the National Broadband Network to allow patients to consult with specialists in Sydney or Wollongong. The Council maintains it will not require ratepayer contribution, with funding generated by aged care bonds.
