The first stage of a $100 million development in the Joondalup city centre, 26 km north of Perth, is underway, with land cleared at the site of a former basketball stadium.

As we reported earlier, there are big plans for the 1.7 ha site.

The integrated development will see Aegis Aged Care Group operate a 140-suite aged care centre, with a retirement village developed by Carmel Group.

The five-storey aged care centre will be delivered in the first stage.

Carmel Group will create 74 ILUs over six storeys as part of the second stage, and the third stage will comprise of 72 family apartments, 42 serviced apartments, retail outlets and amenities.

Carmel Group says the idea is to create a vibrant, multigenerational precinct in Joondalup.

“It’s hoped this development will provide something unique for the city and will become a landmark location for years to come,” Carmel Group director Malek Vahdat said.
