Major aged care operators – including Not For Profits – hit with sanctions

1 min read

Data released by the Department of Health in September showed that the number of sanctions jumped from 5 in 2015/16 to 26 in 2017/18, while notices of non-compliance went from 28 to 154 – and some big names are being caught out.

Last week, separate media stories named three major Not For Profits that have been sanctioned or issued with notices of non-compliance.

In all of the cases, independent administrators had been appointed to help the services comply with standards. Sanctioned facilities are also ineligible for Government subsidies for new residents for six months.

What does this say about advocacy groups (and politicians) that just target for-profit operators?
