A warning for operators to be vigilant about security.

Tonga Harris, 45, of Gosford has been granted conditional bail after being charged with 19 counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception and one count of possessing a prohibited drug after he alleged stole bank cards from residents across the NSW Central Coast, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and Canberra.

Police allege he then called them to ask for the details to access the accounts between January and April this year and withdrew the cash from ATMs at Dapto, East Maitland, East Gosford, Tahmoor, Tuggerah Lakes, Belmont and Canberra.

He was bailed to stay with his mother in Moss Vale and will now face court this week.

Police also issued a warning to the public, particularly elderly people, not to give personal information or bank details to others over the phone.
