National register of aggressive aged care incidents required: SA coroner

1 min read

Following the death of a 70-year-old resident of the now infamous Oakden aged mental health care service, the SA Coroner, Mark Johns, has called for a mandated register of ‘resident to resident’ aggression ‘regardless of the resident’s cognitive status’.

Graham Rollbusch was attacked by an 84-year-old dementia patient Peter Palmer, who had attacked Mr Rollbusch twice before.

The ABC reports the Coroner heard that Mr Palmer had been placed in a room adjacent to Mr Rollbusch and was unsupervised at night, and no records were kept of his movements.
