NDIS care worker allegedly stabbed by client in home visit

Aóife Waugh, 21 and an employee of MMT Care, was allegedly stabbed three times, including in the heart, by a patient on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

She underwent emergency surgery at Gold Coast University Hospital after the incident at the former Commonwealth Games Village in Southport about 8.15pm last Tuesday.

“She is currently in Gold Coast University Hospital sustaining three stab wounds, including one to the heart.” said a Facebook post from Marymount College, Burleigh Waters Alumni.

“The family has asked that this news be shared with the Marymount community and would greatly appreciate it if you would keep Aóife in your thoughts and prayers.”

A 28-year-old woman was charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

MMT Care, a registered NDIS provider, operates in NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
