Newmarch House infection cleared after Anglicare reports false positive test

A possible new COVID-19 case at Anglicare’s Newmarch House has been cleared.

On Tuesday Anglicare sent a release to media saying the confirmed negative case was a false-positive, which wrongly indicates a particular condition or attribute is present.

Anglicare released a later update after clarification from NSW Health which confirmed swabs showed signs of the old infection, rather than being a false-positive test.

This confirmed the individual is no longer infectious.

“We sincerely appreciate everyone’s concerns and the continued support from NSW Health as we all live with this virus,” said Anglicare in the release.

Newmarch House was an early epicentre for the virus in NSW, claiming the lives of 17 residents after 71 residents and staff became infected.
