No new cases in SA as Victorian border opens up but restrictions to remain in place until weekend

South Australia has chalked up another day with no new cases reported on Tuesday, but health authorities are still playing it safe.

There were 11 active cases state-wide, with just over 1,100 South Australians remaining in isolation after being identified as close contacts to the Parafield cluster and 6,500 tests performed in the 24 hours prior.

Overall, South Australia has had 562 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.

This news came as the Victorian border was reopened, but despite the encouraging figures Premier Steven Marshall (pictured above) said there would be no change in public health advice.

“The unequivocal health advice is we need to keep the current new lower level of restrictions in place for the time being,” he said.

Current guidelines will remain in place until at least Friday, although Premier Marshall confirmed these would be reviewed before the weekend.

“We have said from day one that we don’t want to keep any of our restrictions in place for any day longer than we need to,” he added.

Another day of zero new cases in Victoria

Meanwhile Victoria recorded another day with zero new cases and deaths, from over 6,874 tests performed and received in the 24 hours prior.

Queensland and NSW also reported no new locally acquired cases, although NSW Health reported five new cases in hotel quarantine.
