Nursing and aged care top list of Australia’s 20 in-demand occupations

1 min read

The latest data from online job-hunting platform SEEK provides an interesting snapshot of the unique situation the aged care industry – and broader economy – finds itself in.

As you can see in the chart below, nursing (all roles) topped the list of Australia’s ‘most-needed’ jobs, maintaining the number one ranking from February, while aged and disability support climbed five places to be ranked third in workforce demand.

This comes as SEEK’s Employment Snapshot for October indicated the number of job ads were at 80% of pre-COVID levels, with volumes in most states recovering.

The obvious exception came from Victoria, where the job ad volume had dropped to 51% when compared to pre-COVID levels.

SEEK’s data revealed slightly smaller declines in NSW, ACT and Queensland, with job ad volumes sitting at 75%, 85% and 94% respectively.
