One Nation targets new voters in QLD: aged care residents

1 min read

The Gold Coast Sun is reporting that the political party’s candidates are looking at hosting sausage sizzles at aged care facilities in the lead-up to the next state election.

While the plan is said to be in its early stages, food would either be provided free to residents or any profits raised donated to charity.

One candidate for the suburb of Broadwater confirmed to the paper that the party was considering the idea, pointing out that a lot of people in the electorate are over 55.

“We are just trying to figure out different ways to reach out to people. I’ve got a day job so I’ve got to be able to find time to connect with people and with more than one at a time if possible,” Brenden Ball said.

The Liberal National Party has slammed the idea however, with one member saying he hoped it wasn’t an electoral inducement which is against the law.
