Pacific Retirement Estates launches second seniors living resort
- Second village: PRE launches Mountain Haven in Childers
- 116 homes: Resort-style community under construction
- Regional focus: Bundaberg, Fraser Coast and Wide Bay lifestyle
- Growth plans: Two more villages in the pipeline
Formed in Brisbane in March 2022, Pacific Retirement Estates is continuing its expansion across Queensland.
Pacific Retirement Estate (PRE), a fully accredited retirement village operator, a licensed builder and property developer, has launched its second retirement living venture Mountain Haven Over 55’s Resort in Childers, a rural town in Bundaberg.
Expressions of interest for off-the-plan villas are now being accepted with construction underway.
“Mountain Haven is designed for those who value the outdoors and a high-quality, low-maintenance lifestyle,” said Gary Simonite, Group Managing Director and CEO of PRE.
“Whether it is exploring the local countryside or taking a 30-odd-minute drive into the regional hub of Bundaberg, or to nearby coastal Hervey Bay, Mountain Haven serves as the perfect base for an active and fulfilling retirement.”
The resort is currently under active development, with work commencing on Stage 1 (eight units) and Stage 2 (22 units). Upon completion, the master-planned community will feature 116 independent living units. Future infrastructure includes a proposed Clubhouse and swimming pool.
“Our goal is to provide exceptionally affordable yet luxury dwellings with the most competitive occupancy costs in Australia, allowing our residents to embrace the beauty of the Bundaberg, Wide Bay and Greater Fraser Coast regions without compromise,” Gary said.
PRE’s first retirement village is Cooloola Waters Retirement Village in Tin Can Bay, a coastal town in the Wide Bay-Burnett region. The 39 new two- and three-bedroom villa units were built between 2022 and December 2025 and sold off-the-plan.
The Village Comparison Document shows one-bedroom units sold for $300,000 to $350,000; two-bedroom units for $380,000 to $460,000 and three-bedroom units for $480,000 to $650,000.
PRE also has approval from the State’s Department of Housing and Public Work to build 57 leasehold three-bedroom, two-bathroom units in Mossman Gorge in the Shire of Douglas.
Concept plans are also being devised for two more retirement villages:
- Seaforth Beach Retirement Resort: 120 Independent Living Units at Seaforth, a coastal town in the Mackay Region; and
- Wamuran Forrest Retirement Village: 72 Independent Living Units in Wamuran, a semi-rural township in the City of Moreton Bay.
