Placing aged care facility complaints in contexts – beware of dentists!

Checking the Health Care Complaints Commission Annual Report it’s worth noting that aged care facilities are not the only group that receives complaints. The chart above reveals the number of complaints received by different types of health organisations over the last five years (to 2012 – excluding public hospitals). Aged care facilities received the lowest numbers, which is a remarkably positive statement given the physical and emotional complexity of caring for the aged, compared to other health services. We make no comment on correction and detention facilities however.
