Property Council of Australia hosts Retirement Outlook 2019 event in Sydney

1 min read

More than 200 delegates gathered at Sydney’s Establishment Bar to hear a keynote address from Professor Catherine Bridge (University of New South Wales), on the demands that a rapidly ageing Australian population will place on our cities and built environment.

Prof. Bridge’s address was followed by a Q&A with NSW Retirement Village Ambassador, Kathryn Greiner AO, Group Director at ThomsonAdsett, Tieran Kimber, and Head of Group Innovation at IRT, Deanna Sacco.

Prof. Bridge stressed the need for operators to implement creative and innovate approaches to design, marketing and technology to meet the diverse needs of an increasingly tech-savvy ‘senior’ age bracket – emphasising an increased desire for modern technology and concern for the environment among older Australians.

She also highlighted a glaring lack of current research into the environmental and architectural needs of older Australians to support residential and home care requirements.

Mr Kimber echoed this sentiment – he says ThomsonAdsett often conducts their own research.
