QLD patients waiting for aged care would take up entire hospital: ABC

Around 250 older people are waiting for aged care placement in Queensland hospitals according to Health Minister Steven Miles, with the ABC obtaining figures the average wait last year was 53 days.

They quote a Queensland Health panel that reports the leading reasons for the delays were: waiting for an aged care bed (71%); waiting for a family to make a decision (10.5%); and difficulty in placing a person due to behaviour or dementia (6.5%).
