QLD Public Guardian backs ‘blue card’ system for aged care workers

1 min read

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) made the recommendation as part of its submission to the Senate Inquiry into the effectiveness of the Aged Care Quality Assessment and accreditation framework launched by the Greens and Nick Xenophon after the Oakden scandal.

In Queensland, the Blue Card system assesses a person’s suitability to work with children. The OPG says a similar scheme for aged care should be applied nationally.

We will know soon if it’s on the cards. The Inquiry is set to release its final report on 18 February.
