Mr Riley, who is also chairman of the Global Ageing Network representing 24,000 organisations in 52 countries, has told the UN’s United Nations Economic and Social Council that access to quality long term care and palliative care is crucial to an ageing society.

Part of the 9th Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing, Mr Riley says it is important to create systems that create choice and opportunities for the elderly to maintain their independence.

Mr Riley also delivered a briefing about BallyCara and its Sona (Gaelic for happiness) philosophy.
