QLD’s RSL Care takes advantage of new financial incentives for $48M Caboolture co-located development

1 min read

The Not For Profit has lodged an application to construct a multi-storey 162-bed aged care facility at its Fernhill retirement village in Caboolture, 52km north of Brisbane, under the Moreton Bay Council’s new Incentivising Infill Development scheme.

Introduced on July 1 2017, the scheme waives applications fees and cuts infrastructure charges for retirement villages and residential care facilities that meet the eligibility criteria.

If approved, building would start on the new facility next year with the rest of the project – including supported living units, dementia care, serviced apartments and a retail precinct – to be developed over 10 years.

RSL Care + RDNS CEO, Stephen Muggleton told the Courier Mail that Fernhill, which opened in the 1950’s and was RSL Care’s second home for veterans, would be at the forefront of design for a new generation of older people.
