Regis agrees to take 21 aged care residents from hospitals in the NT

1 min read

ASX-listed Regis Aged Care has agreed to take 21 aged care residents blocking beds at Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional hospitals following last week’s story about the lack of available aged care beds in the NT.

With the need to free hospital beds in need and to provide more specialised care, two aged care residents at the hospitals will move to Regis Tiwi in Darwin, a 135-bed residence offering single, double and shared rooms with ensuites, and a further two aged care residents will be transferred on a weekly basis until all allocated beds are filled.

NT Health will provide staff to the aged care facility to manage the transition from the hospitals.

The NT Government has secured Federal Government funding for a 60-bed aged care facility, which is said to be built in Darwin, although no site has been identified.
