Residents move into MiCare’s new three-storey Avondrust Lodge

1 min read

Melbourne-based MiCare has settled its residents into its new aged care development at Carrum Downs, 36km southwest of the Melbourne CBD.

The first stage of the redevelopment was 72 rooms with the final stage another 50 rooms.

“I was greeted by an Elder who couldn't talk clearly so I struggled to understand what she was saying, however, I could tell she was very excited and she was very eager to show me her new room,” said MiCare’s Chief Financial Officer Graeme Wickenden when the first residents moved in.

“It was very heart-warming to see how she was almost besides herself with excitement and happiness with how wonderful her room was. I could see why as well. It was wonderfully spacious and light-filled with a lovely, sweeping view of the green park lands, a contrast to the room she has moved out of.”

The residents moved from the old Avondrust Lodge into the new building in March. It offers short stay respite and permanent care with options for couples.
