NSW Fair Trading has appointed Angus Abadee as the NSW Strata and Property Services Commissioner, following his role as Interim Commissioner since December 2024.
The Strata and Property Service Commissioner leads NSW Fair Trading’s oversight of the strata and property sector and is focused on raising performance and accountability standards across strata, property services, retirement villages, and residential land lease communities.
He is taking over from John Minns, who resigned in December 2024.
“Mr Abadee’s appointment underscores the NSW government’s commitment to fostering a fair, transparent, and sustainable strata and property sector,” Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Anoulack Chanthivong, said.
During his provisional term, Angus established and led the strata and property taskforce’s investigations into malpractice in the strata sector, such as underquoting by sales agents and strata agents who have failed to act in the best interests of owners’ corporations and meet disclosure obligations.
“Along with the Fair Trading team, I want to ensure that practitioners do not just see themselves as running a business – they recognise they are members of a profession that comes with benefits and obligations,” he said.
