Peter Inge OAM, widely acknowledged as one of the most successful, experienced and knowledgeable retirement village operators in the country, brought his executives to see refurbishments conducted over two years at a village his business sold to Aveo in 2007.
Aveo unveiled the $5 million upgrade of its Fountain Court Retirement Living community in Burwood, 14km east of Melbourne's CBD, with state-of-the-art facilities and a collection of new premium apartments. It is part of Aveo’s major capital works program under way at 12 communities across Victoria.
“Retirees have told us they want more access to entertainment, health and wellness amenities and we are investing in a range of upgrades across our Victorian communities,” Tony Randello, Aveo CEO, said.
As part of the refurbishment program, Fountain Court now provides a collection of 17 large one and two-bedroom apartments with a variety of floor plans, and access to luxurious community spaces.
Tony said Aveo, whose owners have put it for sale, was excitedly preparing for a ‘Grey Wave’ of Baby Boomers born between 1946 and 1965, representing the largest ever group of Australian retirees.
“The upcoming decade presents challenges for the retirement living sector. At Aveo we are creating environments tailored for retirees to downsize, enjoy a superior quality of life, flourish in lively social communities and feel a genuine sense of belonging as they pursue their passions and interests in retirement,” he said.
Rosemary McGinn
Fountain Court resident Rosemary McGinn said she was revelling in the stunning new spaces and facilities.
“I’ve lived at Fountain Court for three years so had a front-row seat to the refurbishment. Now it is all complete, it is just divine,’’ she said.
“It’s a beautiful place to live, I feel very lucky to be here.’’
