RSL NSW inquiry: former state president Don Rowe charged with fraud

1 min read

The final chapter to the long-running NSW Government investigation into the state’s RSL aged care branch.

As we covered here, an inquiry by former NSW Supreme Court Judge Patricia Bergin found Mr Rowe spent $465,376 on his RSL credit card between 2009 and 2014 and allowed his son to live rent-free in RSL-owned accommodation in the Sydney CBD for seven years, referring him to police.

Now Mr Rowe has been charged with two counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception. He is due to face court in March.

The inquiry also resulted in new amendments to the RSL NSW Act passed in September 2018 to improve its accountability.
