Retirement Living Council Executive Director Daniel Gannon’s manic week spruiking the sector’s affordability

1 min read

With membership sitting at 30% of operators and President Tony Randello determined to increase it to 50%, Executive Director Daniel Gannon and his team has launched a media onslaught to promote the sector’s affordability.

Referring to the PwC Property Council Retirement Census which identified units in retirement villages are 48% cheaper than the median house price in the same postcode, he hit the media.

“This is an incredible value proposition at a time when governments are looking for supply and affordability solutions,” Daniel said. “But without a compelling story, politicians won’t understand the value this industry provides. Help us tell this wonderful story around the country - every voice counts.”

He began on Monday last week at ECH in Adelaide to film a story for Channel 10 Adelaide.

The next day, Tuesday, Daniel was interviewed by ABC Hobart’s Ryk Goddard and then carried out an interview with AusBiz. The stories online and on social media built.

On Thursday, Daniel flew to Sydney and visited Aveo Group’s The Manors of Mosman, where he met the residents and National Village Manager of the Year, Jo-Anne Quinn.

On Friday, Daniel was interviewed on Sky News by Laura Jayes live from its Adelaide studio talking about the census and the sector’s affordability, with The Courier Mail to follow.

Yesterday afternoon, he spoke with ABC Radio Brisbane and this morning he was interviewed on 2CC radio in Canberra. He also featured in an article in today's Adelaide Advertiser.
