Southern Cross Care Tasmania to sell aged care home shut in 2021

1 min read

The Not For Profit took over Mary’s Grange Aged Care Facility in Taroona, 7km from the centre of Hobart, in 2016. It had operated as an aged care facility since 1957.

Southern Cross Care Tasmania closed the home in 2021 with residents “relocated to handpicked new homes” as part of a review of its operations.

Now Southern Cross Care Tasmania Chair Judith Fishlock said it is for sale after the buildings had been broken into and damaged.

‘The property is for sale as it is surplus to needs," Judith told The SOURCE.

The Knight Frank property listing describes the 1.05ha site as a “significant asset and landholding in a premium suburb”.

The property, which has views of the River Derwent and is close to parks and beaches, has the potential for refurbishment or redevelopment, according to Knight Frank.

The property is for sale through expressions of interest, closing 2 May 2024.
