1 min read

Aged Care Minister, Senator Richard Colbeck has appointed a special advisor to ensure families of residents in COVID-19 affected aged care facilities in Victoria are kept in the loop.

The Commissioner for Senior Victorians Gerard Mansour has been tasked with the role of advisor to the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre (VACRC) to keep families informed about the welfare of their loved ones in aged care facilities with virus outbreaks.

Mr Mansour will provide advice for engaging with families and help connect them to support networks including Elder Rights Advocacy and the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement.

He will also work alongside other advocacy groups including the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), and promote prevention measures in aged care facilities that have not had outbreaks.
