Serial paedophile to be housed in QLD nursing home

The undisclosed aged care facility in SE QLD has agreed to take in a serial paedophile who never finished any sex offender rehabilitation programs in prison.

He initially remained in prison because no aged care facility would house him, but, after applying to more than 20 nursing homes, the Public Guardian has found one facility that has agreed to take him in.

Seventy-one-year-old William Frederick Schultz has a 30-year history of sexually abusing children.

The court found his dementia would prevent him from abiding by a supervision order.

A psychiatric assessment decided that the only way of protecting the community from the risk of violent sexual offending would be if he were placed in a suitable locked aged care facility. The Supreme Court has ordered him to be housed in a secure dementia unit.
