Six aged care tech companies unite in new consortium

1 min read

Six Australian healthcare technology companies have come together into a new consortium for aged care.

The Aged Care Technology Consortium comprises Webstercare, Extensia, Foxo, Visionflex, MEDrefer and Humanetix, which will integrate their technologies for home care and residential aged care, including secure real-time communications, administration, telehealth, medication management, and information sharing.

Gerard Stevens AM, Managing Director of Webstercare (pictured), says the consortium aims to solve the problem of disconnected technologies in aged care.

“Our companies agreed to cooperate to showcase what can be done. It is about integrating aged care into community care to ensure that wherever a patient goes in their care journey their information seamlessly travels with them.

“Aged care shouldn’t exist as an unconnected silo, especially when older people rely on primary care, allied health, specialists and support services in various combinations,” he said.

According to the consortium – which other companies can join – benefits include preventing unnecessary emergency department transfers, early identification of health requirements, improved services to rural and remote regions, more patient care time for staff, improved family engagement, and the ability for patients to control their information.
