1 min read

Consider this. Every year between now and 2020 China has to build the equivalent number of aged care beds as Australia’s current total supply – 214,000 new beds. They have 40,000 aged care facilities now with 3.15 million beds (ave 80 beds each). 176 million Chinese are aged 60+ today – 13% of the population. This grows to 18% or 243 million people in 8 years time (2020). To maintain the current ratio of beds (2% of people 60+) China will need to build another 1.71 million beds – or 214,000 a year. That is 4,100 new beds every week for 8 years
