The ‘tick’ is awarded for its commitment to being aware, responding to and understanding the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community.
Older LGBTI people are often fearful that they will face discrimination when entering aged care services.
Eldercare is the first South Australian residential aged care provider to receive accreditation after meeting all six Rainbow Tick Standards.
CEO Jane Pickering said this achievement shows members of the LGBTI community that Eldercare is a safe and welcoming place.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the Rainbow Tick – and to have received accreditation on our first attempt is a testament to the absolute commitment of the Eldercare team to ensure everyone is welcomed and included,” said Jane.
