Southern Cross Care WA teams up with property developer for residential, aged care and retirement living precinct in Perth’s suburbs

1 min read

The state’s Labor government has announced the Not For Profit and WA and VIC-based Yolk Property Group as the preferred developers for a vacant 14ha site at Champion Lakes, 32km from the Perth CBD, in line with Premier Mark McGowan’s commitment to fast-track aged care developments.

Since he took office in March 2017, more than 30 aged care developments have been supported through land transfers, rezonings, development approvals and State Government land projects.

This development will include apartments, townhouses, standard and micro-lot homes, aged care and retirement housing.

WA has historically fallen short on meeting national targets for aged care beds and both State and Federal Governments are pushing to increase numbers.

As we covered here, Minister for Aged Care Ken Wyatt (himself a West Australian) has been working with the WA Government to encourage operators to build and run facilities there.
