Spotlight on Executive Talent: Angus Kukura – Amicum’s pioneering sales leader

1 min read

Angus Kukura has created more firsts in village sales than any other executive.

In 1999 he launched the first modern apartment village for the St Ives group in WA, titled Centro. As St Ives GM Sales & Marketing, he led the concept and design in Perth, a market that was not accustomed at that time to apartment living. This big campus is still the leading village in the Perth market.

To facilitate the fast transactions, he created St Ives Real Estate, a full function real estate office to sell family homes to speed the village transaction and move.

Having joined the Arcadia village group when they purchased the first two boutique high end apartment villages in Melbourne from Stockland, each with approximately 60% occupancy and low village moral, he reworked the management and achieved full occupancy within a year.

This was followed by the groundwork in establishing Hidden Valley, as a greenfield development north of Melbourne, with scope for 700+ homes.

He is now a ‘sales machine’ for hire at John Newman’s Amicum, providing part or all of the sales and marketing functions of a village.

The innovation he has brought to this role is that their fee is tied directly to sales – no sale/no fee.

His client base is building with operators who have old stock that needs to be rebalanced and presented to the market – which makes up more than 65% of all villages.

Angus has also been President of the WA and VIC Retirement Living Council chapters, plus a Past President of the Retirement Village Association.
