St Basil’s chairman stands down

The Green Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia has confirmed the chairman of St Basil’s Home for the Aged in Melbourne’s north has stepped down for the role.

Mr Konstantinos Kontis’s resignation was announced on Friday.

In a Facebook post the Greek Orthodox Church said Mr Kontis has been asked to remain on the Board of Directors with to finalise practical and legal issues.

“His Eminence, after expressing his gratitude for the long-standing contribution of Mr Kontis and his co-workers to St Basil’s, accepted his resignation,” the church said.

Over 200 cases have been linked to the facility in Fawkner.
