About 10 years ago they partnered with the privately owned St Ives Group and then bought the owners out in 2012, making them WA’s largest village operator, one of trhe largest residential care operators and second largest home care operator, a business they are expanding into NSW, QLD and VIC. (They provide home care services into Victorian Aveo villages for instance).
Why? Automobile association memberships around the world are declining because cars don’t break down much now and young people aren’t joining.
They still have a strong franchise with older people so they are cross selling village and care offerings to have a business. The RAC in Victoria is moving into caravan parks for the same reason.
