Sydney council rezones 4ha of land for 600-unit development in Cabramatta including retirement living and aged care

Fairfield Council has voted unanimously to rezone the business development site at 17-21 Longfield St in Cabramatta, 28km southwest of the Sydney CBD, to allow 500-650 one-, two- and three bedroom apartments; 80-100 independent living units and a 150-bed aged care facility to be run by Opal Aged Care to be built.

Known as ‘The Circle’, the development would feature seven buildings between three to five and six storeys and also be home to a 100-place childcare centre, medical centre and gym.

Applicants FTD Holdings say the innovative development will reinvigorate the local area and allow families, including grandparents, parents and children, to live in the same precinct.

“This is very important culturally to the ethnically diverse population of Cabramatta,” they note in their application.

Point taken.
